Description

The Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) is seeking driven and self-motivated Ph.D. students to join the Department of Computer Engineering for the Fall 2026 intake. These fully funded positions offer a unique chance to conduct advanced research in specialized areas of modern computing. Successful candidates will work within a dedicated research group focusing on high-impact technologies that bridge the gap between hardware design and artificial intelligence.


Research Focus

The research group is dedicated to solving complex problems in next-generation computing, specifically focusing on:

  • Processing-in-Memory (PIM) Architectures
  • Machine Learning (ML)
  • Large Language Model (LLM) Optimization


Qualification & Candidate Profile

Ideal candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in computer architecture and its application to AI. The lab is looking for students who possess the following:

  • Core Knowledge: Strong foundations in Digital Design, Computer Architecture, and Machine Learning.
  • Programming Proficiency: Skills in hardware description languages like VHDL and Verilog, as well as Python.
  • Preferred Experience: Applicants with prior knowledge or hands-on experience in VLSI and Machine Learning will have a significant advantage.
