Available Analytical Capabilities & Instrumentation
The facility provides quantitative concentrations and isotopic measurements across solid, aqueous, and gas samples using advanced instrumentation:
- Total Carbon (C) and Nitrogen (N) Analysis: Conducted using either a Leco CN828-MC or a FlashSmart EA elemental analyzer.
- Carbon and Nitrogen Stable Isotope Analysis: Evaluated in both solid and aqueous specimens using a Thermo DeltaQ Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer.
- Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and Methane (CH4) Stable Isotope Analysis: Measured via a Picarro G2201-I analyzer coupled to a SAM auto-analyzer configured for Exetainer sample vials.
- Trace Gas Concentration Analysis: Concentration measurements of nitrous oxide (N2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), and methane (CH4) via gas chromatography on a Shimadzu GC-2014.
- Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC) Analysis: Concentration determination in water samples and soil extracts via UV-persulfate oxidation using a Teledyne Instruments Fusion TOC Analyzer.
- Ammonium (NH4+) and Nitrate (NO3-) Analysis: Concentration testing in aqueous samples and soil extracts utilizing colorimetric methodology.
