Patrascu's Future Infrastructure Resilient Systems (FIRST) Lab at Louisiana State University is inviting applications from motivated, self-driven, and diligent candidates for a fully funded PhD position in Construction Management.
Eligibility Criteria
- Program: PhD in Construction Management.
- Target Audience: Prospective PhD researchers.
- Preferred Research Background: Applicants should have an interest or background in applying artificial intelligence to natural-hazard and flood-damage assessment, infrastructure resilience, computer vision, deep learning, graph-based learning, probabilistic risk assessment, and data-informed risk reduction.
- Technical Interests: Experience or familiarity with aerial, satellite, or street-level imagery, graph neural networks, probabilistic modeling, uncertainty quantification, geospatial data, remote sensing, UAVs, hydrology, and advanced AI frameworks like ResNet, YOLO, and large language models (LLMs).
Preferred Research Experience and Interests:
- Interest or experience in natural-hazard and flood-damage assessment using aerial, satellite, street-level, or other forms of imagery
- Familiarity with graph neural networks, probabilistic modeling, uncertainty quantification, fragility curves, or risk and reliability analysis
- Experience with geospatial data, remote sensing, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), hydrology, or large-scale data analysis
- Familiarity with, or a strong interest in learning, advanced AI architectures and frameworks, including ResNet, YOLO, hybrid neural networks, and large language models (LLMs)
- Experience analyzing large-scale mobility datasets is considered an asset
