Northeastern University, located in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, is seeking driven PhD candidates to join the TRUST AI Lab. Under the leadership of the lab's primary investigator, prospective students will engage in cutting-edge research covering trustworthy and adaptive artificial intelligence. The research group focuses on critical topics within modern AI, including distributed and federated learning, multi-agent reinforcement learning, trustworthy autonomous systems, and AI safety.

Selected applicants will participate in doctoral studies centered on building reliable, secure, and adaptive artificial intelligence systems.


Responsibilities

Students joining the TRUST AI Lab at Northeastern University will contribute to research projects in artificial intelligence and machine learning. Key responsibilities and research activities include:

  • Conducting advanced research in distributed learning, federated learning, and multi-agent reinforcement learning.
  • Developing algorithms and theoretical models to improve AI safety and build trustworthy autonomous systems.
  • Collaborating with lab members to solve complex computational and system-level AI challenges.
  • Preparing research findings for publication in top-tier machine learning and AI venues.


Qualifications

Prospective candidates are expected to demonstrate strong academic potential and research interest in machine learning and adaptive systems:

  • Academic Background: A relevant degree (Bachelor's or Master's) in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a closely related quantitative field.
  • Research Alignment: Clear interest and background knowledge in machine learning, federated learning, multi-agent systems, or AI safety.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong programming skills and familiarity with AI/ML frameworks.
