Description

A new scholarship opportunity is available for a high-impact research project focused on Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS). This project specifically explores CO₂-based stimulation and sequestration, offering a pathway for researchers to contribute to sustainable energy solutions.

 Project Overview

This interdisciplinary initiative is funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC). The primary goal is to develop an innovative CO₂ foam technology for subsurface applications. This research provides a unique collaborative environment between the University of Wollongong and Monash University, Australia.

Key research areas include:

  • Advanced Laboratory Testing: Conducting sophisticated experiments to test new geothermal technologies.
  • Fracturing Modeling: Developing models for fluid-induced fracturing in subsurface environments.
  • Sustainability Analysis: Evaluating the environmental impact and long-term viability of these energy systems.


Eligibility Criteria

We are looking for motivated candidates who possess a strong academic foundation and a passion for renewable energy innovation.

  • Academic Background: Applicants should hold a First Class Honours in a Bachelor of Engineering or a Master’s degree (or equivalent).
  • Fields of Study: Backgrounds in engineering, geoscience, energy systems, or related quantitative disciplines are preferred.
  • Core Interests: A demonstrated interest in geothermal energy, CO₂ injection, and sustainable subsurface technologies.
  • Technical Skills: Strong analytical and research skills are essential for driving project success.
