Responsibilities

Position Overview

The fellowship provides a platform to conduct cutting-edge research in nuclear structure and experimental physics. The appointed researcher will be engaged in the following activities:

  • Experimental Investigations: Advanced experiments on nuclear moments will be conducted using heavy-ion accelerators and international rare isotope facilities, allowing for high-precision studies of nuclear properties.
  • Collaborative Research: Work will be performed alongside leading experts, including Professor Andrew Stuchbery, Dr. Greg Lane, Dr. Tibor Kibédi, and Dr. AJ Mitchell, promoting interdisciplinary learning and knowledge exchange.
  • Team Projects: Participation in ongoing nuclear structure projects alongside PhD candidates and undergraduate researchers will foster mentorship and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Dissemination of Research: Findings will be published in high-impact scientific journals and presented at international conferences, contributing to the global body of nuclear physics knowledge.  


Remuneration and Appointment

Applicants can expect competitive compensation and professional recognition. Key details include:

  1. Academic Level: A or B, depending on qualifications and prior experience.
  2. Salary Range: AUD 87,135 – 134,507 per annum, plus 17% superannuation.
  3. Appointment Type: Full-time, fixed-term for up to two years, providing dedicated time for focused research.

  • A PhD in nuclear physics or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in experimental nuclear structure research, ideally with accelerator-based studies.

  • Proven capability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment, supporting team-based investigations.
