Applications are being invited for a Postdoctoral Fellow position in Radiochemistry at TRIUMF, Canada’s national particle accelerator centre. This position is being supported by the New Frontiers in Research Fund – Transformation (NFRF-T) and will be housed within the Life Sciences Division. TRIUMF, a publicly funded and not-for-profit national research laboratory, has been recognized as a hub of innovation and discovery. With a multidisciplinary team of nearly 600 professionals, TRIUMF is contributing to scientific advancements in fields ranging from particle and nuclear physics to life and material sciences. This opportunity is being offered within a dynamic environment where Targeted Radionuclide Therapy (TRT) is being explored through the production of medical radionuclides such as actinium-225, thorium-228, and actinium-227. The successful applicant will be engaged in the improvement of radiochemical separation techniques and will support the production processes of these high-priority isotopes. 


Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and technical assistance are to be provided in the production, purification, and radiolabeling of TRT radionuclides.
  • Coordination is to be maintained between the research and production teams to ensure consistent supply and quality of radionuclides such as Ac-225.
  • Supervision of students and support in grant applications and manuscript development will also be expected. 


Supervision:

Co-supervision of co-op students and contribution to the support of graduate students may be expected, in collaboration with academic supervisors. 


Qualification

Required Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. (awarded within the past 5 years) in Radiochemistry, Chemistry, Radiopharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with radioisotope handling, targetry, and separation processes. 


Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency in radiochemical separation and extraction techniques or the ability to quickly acquire such skills.
  • Strong communication abilities, laboratory precision, and project planning.
  • Familiarity with radiation safety protocols.
  • Desired: Experience with techniques such as ICP-MS, gamma spectroscopy, radio-HPLC, and radio-TLC. 


Additional Requirement:

Designation as a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW) will be required, for which training will be provided by TRIUMF. 


Position Details:

  1. Weekly Hours: 35
  2. Salary Range: $65,000 – $76,000 CAD
