Description

Applications are being invited for a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Georgetown University Law Center, offered in partnership with Tech & Society at Georgetown University and the Knight-Georgetown Institute. This opportunity is being extended to researchers with a demonstrated interest in interdisciplinary work, particularly at the intersection of technology regulation, competition policy, and transatlantic legal frameworks. The position has been designed to support original research related to the Digital Markets Act (DMA) and the Digital Markets, Competition, and Consumers Bill (DMCC). Emphasis will be placed on studies that explore the challenges of implementation, governance, and transatlantic cooperation in the digital regulatory space. The selected postdoctoral fellow will be granted considerable academic freedom and will be encouraged to pursue independent research projects. Guidance and mentorship will be provided by Professor Filippo Lancieri and Alissa Cooper, with the aim of fostering innovative scholarship and global engagement. 


Responsibilities

Position Focus Areas:

  • Analytical and legal research on the implementation of the DMA and DMCC
  • Comparative studies of digital regulation in the U.S. and the European Union
  • Exploration of transatlantic bridges in competition policy, digital markets, and consumer protection
  • Contribution to academic discourse, workshops, and public policy engagement 


Position Details:

Location: Georgetown University Law Center, Washington, D.C.
Type: Full-time postdoctoral position
Duration: 1-year initial appointment, renewable for a second year (1+1)
Compensation: USD $90,000 per year, plus a $5,000 annual research budget
Start Date: To be determined based on applicant availability

Qualification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A completed PhD or equivalent degree in Law, Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, or a related discipline
  • A strong background in interdisciplinary research involving technology regulation or competition law
  • Demonstrated interest in digital markets, global governance, or regulatory implementation
  • An ability to contribute to the academic community at Georgetown and collaborate across institutions
