How to Apply
Applying for the University of Twente Scholarship is a two-step process; first, you must apply for admission to an eligible Master’s program at UT, and then you can apply for the scholarship itself. Follow these steps carefully:
Step 1: Apply for a Master’s Programme at the University of Twente.
Before applying for the scholarship, you must first apply for admission to a qualifying Master’s programme.
- Visit the official UT Master’s Programmes Page.
- Choose your preferred Master’s programme and check its specific admission requirements, including academic qualifications and English language proficiency.
- You will need to prepare your academic transcripts, degree certificates, CV, and English test scores (IELTS, TOEFL, or Cambridge).
- Apply for admission through the online application portal (Studielink).
- Once your application is submitted and reviewed, you will receive your University of Twente student number, which is required to proceed with the scholarship application.
Step 2: Wait for (Conditional) Admission Confirmation.
After submitting your Master’s application, you’ll receive an email notification about your admission status.
- You must have at least a conditional admission offer (or confirmation) from UT to be eligible for the scholarship.
- Keep your student number safe, as it will be required in the next step.
- Admission decisions and updates are available through your UT Osiris student portal after applying via Studielink.
Step 3: Apply for the University of Twente Scholarship (UTS).
Once you have your student number, you can apply for the scholarship through the official University of Twente scholarship portal.
- Visit the official UTS Scholarship Page.
- Scroll down and click on the “Apply for this scholarship” button (visible only during open application periods).
- Fill in the online scholarship application form with accurate academic and personal information.
- You’ll be asked to upload your motivation letter, transcripts, and other relevant documents.
- Applications are reviewed on a competitive basis, and only top-performing students are selected.
Step 5: Await Scholarship Results.
After the deadline passes, all applications will be assessed based on academic merit, motivation, and leadership potential.
- Successful applicants will receive a formal UTS award letter via email.
- If selected, you may also be considered for related awards such as the Kipaji Scholarship (for students from specific developing countries). More info: Kipaji Scholarship Page
Step 6: Accept Your Offer and Prepare for Visa Application.
Once awarded, follow the official instructions to confirm your scholarship and enrollment.
- Pay any required tuition or remaining fees if necessary.
- Begin your Dutch visa and residence permit process (for non-EU/EEA students) through the university’s international office.
Important Notes:
- The scholarship does not cover full tuition fees or guarantee full funding of all costs; it is meant to help with study‑related costs.
- For two‑year programmes, continuation of the grant into Year 2 depends on meeting performance criteria (e.g., certain average grade and credit thresholds).
- Since places are limited and competition is strong, meeting the minimum criteria does not guarantee an award.
