Description
Applications are being invited for the third edition of the Bloomsbury Academic Writing Fellowship, which is being jointly offered by Bloomsbury Publishing and Writers & Artists. This fellowship has been specifically designed to support aspiring authors from Black, Asian, and Ethnically Diverse (BAED) backgrounds who are based in the UK and wish to develop an idea into a publishable academic book. The initiative is being continued following the successful delivery of the program in previous years and aims to address barriers faced by underrepresented groups in the academic publishing industry. It is being offered to individuals working on topics within the Humanities and Social Sciences, whose proposals align with Bloomsbury Academic’s publishing areas.
What Will Be Provided:
The selected fellow will be supported throughout the 2026 calendar year with a comprehensive package that includes:
- One year of editorial support and mentorship by experienced publishing professionals
- £1,000 of financial support to aid in writing and research
- £250 worth of books from Bloomsbury Academic’s catalogue
- Access to industry resources, publishing events, and networking opportunities
- Guidance on developing their proposal to a publishable standard
The ultimate objective is to enable the fellow to feel confident and equipped to approach academic publishers with their work.
