Description

PhD positions are available in Chemical Engineering for the enthusiastic, ambitious, and hardworking students for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 at Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Department, College of Engineering, United Arab Emirates University. The project will be focused on efficient synthesis of 2D nanomaterials for energy storage applications. The selected students will study to obtain hands on experience on conventional and efficient synthesis of 2D MXenes, electrochemical energy storage devices and developing supercapacitors using the synthesized MXenes. The project will also include theoretical/computation investigation such as DFT calculations and simulations using numerical methods. The UAE is an open and tolerant society to live and work. The United Arab Emirates University is situated in the beautiful and green city of Al-Ain.

Qualification

Minimum Qualification:

1. Must have a masters’ degree in Chemical Engineering
2. Must have published at least one peer reviewed journal article in a reputed journal. More publications and conference presentation will be advantageous.
3. Ability to work independently with flexibility and initiative-based approach
   

Expected Skills/Rank/Experience: Extensive research experience on publishing research/review articles. Preference will be given to candidate with expertise in MXenes, 2D materials, DFT and Optimization.

English Requirement: A minimum IELTS score of 6.5 is mandatory for this position.

Starting Date: Fall 2024 and Spring 2025
