Description

Ontario Tech University in Canada is inviting applications for Master of Science (MSc) and Master of Applied Science (MASc) positions starting in 2026 or 2027. These roles offer students the chance to join a high-impact academic environment focused on the future of technology and software systems.

Successful candidates will work under the expert supervision of Dr. Kundi Yao and Dr. Li Yang, engaging in cutting-edge research within the Department of Computer Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Research Opportunities

Selected students will have the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking projects in several high-demand fields, including:  

  • Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI/ML): Exploring advanced algorithms and data-driven solutions. 
  • Cybersecurity: Developing robust systems to protect digital infrastructure. 
  • Software Engineering (SE) & AIOps: Improving software development lifecycles through automation and intelligence. 
  • Large Language Models (LLMs) & Agentic AI: Working with the latest in generative and autonomous AI technologies. 
  • Log Management and Analysis: Enhancing system monitoring and diagnostic capabilities.


Qualification Requirements

The program is looking for motivated individuals who are ready to pursue advanced research at the graduate level. While specific GPA or testing requirements should be verified during the formal application, the primary criteria include:  

  • Academic Background: A relevant undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.  
  • Future Enrollment: Commitment to starting a Master’s degree (MSc or MASc) in the 2026 or 2027 academic cycles. 
  • Research Interest: A strong desire to conduct technical research in the lab's core focus areas, such as AI, cybersecurity, or software engineering.
