Description

The Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech) in Japan is seeking one highly motivated PhD student to join Professor Hirofumi Tanaka’s research group. This position offers a unique opportunity to conduct advanced research at the intersection of materials science, electronics, and next-generation artificial intelligence systems. Starting in October 2026, the successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge projects involving intelligent devices and brain-inspired computing hardware.


Research Focus Areas

Professor Tanaka’s research group specializes in developing the physical building blocks for future AI. Key areas of interest include:

  • AI Hardware & Neuromorphic Devices: Designing hardware that mimics the neural structure of the human brain.
  • Nanoelectronics: Utilizing carbon nanotube-based systems and graphene nanoribbons.
