Description
Novartis Biomedical Research is offering a unique Discovery Postdoctoral Fellowship focused on developing preclinical digital biomarkers to enhance patient tolerability in therapeutic care. Hosted in Cambridge, MA, this interdisciplinary opportunity lies at the crossroads of translational neuroscience, animal behavior, biomedical engineering, and digital health. Fellows will join a global team spanning the U.S. and Switzerland to translate patient-derived wearable data into preclinical insights. This data will be used to assess therapy tolerability, aiming to improve compliance and quality of life through predictive, objective markers.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Lead preclinical studies using digital home-cage monitoring for tolerability validation
- Analyze multi-modal data from wearable and behavioral monitoring systems
- Design and develop translational digital biomarkers with predictive capabilities
- Apply machine learning for tolerability and safety prediction models
- Publish in high-impact journals and present at global scientific conferences
- Participate in cross-functional collaborations and mentor junior researchers
Qualification
Eligibility Criteria
Required:
- PhD (awarded May 2023 or later) in Translational Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Ethology, or related fields
- Hands-on in-vivo study experience, especially behavioral assessments
- Data analysis expertise using wearable and digital monitoring devices
- Strong publication record or equivalent scientific achievement
- Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Preferred:
- Experience with home-cage monitoring systems
- Track record of developing translational biomarkers
- Experience with statistical modeling and AI/ML tools
- Passion for innovation in patient-centric therapeutic strategies
