Position Summary

Copenhagen Business School is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Economics. This role is hosted by the Department of Economics, which is dedicated to high-quality research, teaching, and public engagement in areas including microeconomics, macroeconomics, and quantitative methodologies. The department is especially known for its applied research in business and policy-relevant fields. CBS’s Department of Economics also hosts two renowned research centers:

  • Copenhagen School of Energy Infrastructure (CSEI)
  • Pension Research Centre (PeRCent)

  • Quantitative Techniques and Data Science
  • Welfare Systems, including Education, Health, and Pensions 


Position Details

This is a fixed-term, non-tenure-track role lasting either two or three years, depending on teaching involvement:

  • Two years for research-only positions
  • Three years for positions combining research and teaching (teaching load: approx. one-third of workload)

Selected candidates are expected to be present on campus regularly, contributing actively to departmental research and teaching activities, depending on the nature of the appointment. 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual and collaborative research to meet international scholarly standards
  • Publish in peer-reviewed journals and participate in academic dissemination
  • Take part in departmental academic events such as seminars, conferences, and workshops
  • Support departmental administration and CBS-wide initiatives
  • Communicate research findings to public and private stakeholders, contributing to CBS’s visibility and public engagement 


Qualification

Eligibility and Desired Qualifications

Required:

  • A completed PhD (or equivalent) in Economics or a related field
  • Strong academic potential, with particular focus on applied microdata analysis
  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken) 

Preferred:

Experience with:

  • Economic modeling in areas like migration, residential choice, urban/spatial economics, or trade
  • Analysis of spatial data
  • Stata (proficiency required); familiarity with R, Python, or Matlab is a plus
  • A track record of publishing in recognized international journals

Employment Terms:
The appointment and salary will be based on the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the relevant academic union.
